This publication is linked to the Postgraduate Program in Visual Arts, of the Center for Arts, Design and Fashion of the State University of Santa Catarina. Developed since 2004, initially in print and then electronically from 2009. It is a non-profit digital journal, designed to be a vehicle for the dissemination of research and knowledge production, duly installed on the System. Electronic Journal Publication (SEER) platform. Currently, it has a Qualis A1 rating in Arts.

It is a journal linked to a public and free university, and its access and submissions are also completely free.

Palindrome is a word of Greek origin that indicates what can be read in one direction and also in the opposite direction, from back to front. Contrary to pre-established order and norms, research in/about visual arts refers not only to negated norms, but also requires constant review of data, processes and reorganization of ideas, welcoming what can be thought of as traffic and crossing. It is published on a rolling basis, with articles that are unpublished in Brazil, provided they are approved by the Editorial Board and meet the standards indicated in the call for papers. Exceptionally, articles by Brazilian and foreign authors previously published in books and journals with limited circulation in Brazil may be published. Submissions are open year-round, on a rolling basis.

The editorial management is carried out by professors from each of the research lines that make up the PPGAV and is currently represented by Prof. Dr. Luana Maribele Wedekin. The Editorial Board is made up of professors from different Brazilian and international universities.
