Author Contributions, Acknowledgements, and Data Availability
The Revista de Ensino em Artes, Moda e Design mandates that, in the case of articles featuring co-authorship, the specific contributions of each author and collaborator be explicitly documented. This information must be included at the end of the article and will be published alongside it, thereby promoting transparency and acknowledging the distinct roles of each contributor.
The journal adheres to the practice of delineating the contributions of each author according to the 14 categories outlined in the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT). These categories include, but are not limited to, authorship of ideas, writing, and data analysis.
Taxonomy of Contributor Roles (CRediT)
Fundamental Criteria for Authorship
For an individual to be listed as an author, they must meet all four of the following criteria:
1. Have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work.
2. Have participated in drafting the manuscript or revising it critically for important intellectual content.
3. Have given final approval of the version to be published.
4. Have agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
Core Principle: Performing a single technical service (e.g., providing materials, conducting routine data collection, or solely obtaining funding for the acquisition of materials or infrastructure) is not sufficient to justify authorship. Such contributions should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section.
Mandatory Declarations in Published Articles
The Revista de Ensino em Artes, Moda e Design requires the inclusion of two specific declarations in all research articles:
1. Author Contributions Declaration
This should consist of a concise paragraph detailing the specific contributions of each author, identified by their initials or full name.
i. Objective: To ensure transparency regarding contributions, avoiding practices such as "ghost authorship" (the exclusion of actual contributors) and "honorary authorship" (the inclusion of non-contributors).
ii. Example: "Study conception: João da Silva. Methodology: Maria Santos, Ana Oliveira. Computational model development: Maria Santos, Ana Oliveira. Validation: Pedro Lima. Writing – Original Draft: João da Silva. Writing – Review & Editing: Maria Santos. All authors reviewed and approved the final manuscript.
Or
Project concept: João da Silva.
Methodology: Maria Santos, Ana Oliveira
Validation: Pedro Lima
Writing – Original Draft: João da Silva
Writing – Revision and Editing: Maria Santos. All authors reviewed and approved the final manuscript."
2. Declaration of Conflicts of Interest
Authors must indicate any financial or non-financial interests that could be construed as potential conflicts of interest in relation to the published work.
i. Objective: To ensure transparency regarding potential biases.
Specific Policies Related to the Author List
1. Corresponding Author(s):
The Revista de Ensino em Artes, Moda e Design permits the designation of multiple corresponding authors, whose email addresses will be published. These authors serve as the primary point of contact for editorial matters, post-publication inquiries, and for ensuring compliance with administrative, ethical, and data availability requirements.
2. Indication of Equal Contribution:
The use of symbols (e.g., *, †, ‡) or notes is permitted to indicate that two or more authors contributed equally to the work.
i. Indication of Senior Authorship: Symbols may also be used to identify senior authors or supervisors.
3. Changes to the Author List
The addition, removal, or reordering of author names is generally permitted only before final manuscript acceptance. After acceptance, any modification requires:
• Formal approval from the journal editor.
• A clear justification for the change.
• Written confirmation from all authors, including those affected by the change.
Acknowledgments Section
This section should acknowledge individuals or organizations that contributed to the work but do not meet all authorship criteria (e.g., technical assistance, writing support, or general supervision). It is mandatory to acknowledge all funding sources in the designated "Research Funding Agency or Foundation" section.
Data Availability
Although not formally part of the authorship policy, the Revista de Ensino em Artes, Moda e Design maintain a strong commitment to data and information sharing to ensure the reproducibility of results. The corresponding author(s) is/are ultimately responsible for fulfilling these requirements. This information must be included in a section titled "Supplementary Material" or "Data Availability".
i. Example A (No supplementary data): If the work has no supplementary materials or data to provide, the following message should appear: "All data necessary to reproduce the results are contained within the article."
ii. Example B (With supplementary data): If the work presents supplementary materials or data, the following information must be provided: "The datasets generated and/or analyzed during the current study are available in the [REPOSITORY NAME] repository [with the persistent identifier (DOI or accession number)] under the license [LICENSE NAME, if applicable]. [LINK TO THE DATA]."
