Abstract

The interview presents reflections by the artist and researcher José Carlos da Rocha, PhD in Visual Arts from the State University of Santa Catarina, on how art, revealed in maturity, fosters processes of academic and scientific development. The dialogue traces his trajectory from economics to painting, highlighting the significance of his artistic production, research, teaching experience, and contributions to the fields of contemporary art and visual arts education.

Author Biographies

Giovana Zarpellon Mazo, Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina

Professora Titular da Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (UDESC), aposentada desde novembro de 2024, mas permanece atuando como professora credenciada e permanente no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências do Movimento Humano (PPGCMH) do Centro de Ciências da Saúde e do Esporte (CEFID) da UDESC. É Líder do Grupo de Pesquisa “Atividade Física, Saúde e Envelhecimento” (CNPq) e coordenadora do Laboratório de Gerontologia (LAGER/CEFID/UDESC).  Fez, em 2024, as disciplinas de Introdução à Pintura e de Processos Pictóricos do curso de graduação em Artes Visuais do Centro de Artes, Design e Moda (CEART) da UDESC em 2024. É membro do grupo de estudos do Estúdio de Pintura Apotheke -CEART/UDESC (2025).

Lucas André Marconato, Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina

Graduando em Artes Visuais pela Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina. Foi bolsista de monitoria nas disciplinas de pintura em 2024.1. Foi bolsista de extensão no Programa Permanente de Extensão Estúdio de Pintura Apotheke de 2024.2 até 2025.2. Atualmente é membro do Grupo de Estudos Estúdio de Pintura Apotheke (UDESC).
