APOTHEKE Journal (A1 – Qualis Capes), affiliated with the Graduate Program in Visual Arts at UDESC (PPGAV/UDESC), begins a new phase in 2026 with the adoption of a continuous publication model. This change aims to expand the circulation and agility of research dissemination, keeping pace with contemporary rhythms of knowledge production in the field of Visual Arts. Maintaining its commitment to academic rigor, all submissions undergo peer review, encompassing articles, visual essays, translations, interviews, and experience reports that articulate artistic practice, teaching, and theoretical reflection.

Throughout its trajectory (2015–2025), the journal has established itself as a space for inquiry that brings together art and education, with particular emphasis on painting, the studio, and artistic practice as modes of knowledge production. Issues such as Art as Experience (2015), Studio-Based Teaching (2018), Art as Experience in the [Painting] Studio (2023), and Artist’s Studio (2025) highlight this focus, in continuous dialogue with the thought of John Dewey. At the same time, the journal has incorporated contemporary critical perspectives, addressing issues of gender, sexuality, and race, as seen in volumes dedicated to dissident artistic practices (2020–2021) and Afro-diasporic debates (2021).

This volume brings together research that investigates the teaching of Visual Arts in articulation with artistic practice, highlighting diverse approaches and plural educational contexts. It also includes the thematic section Color and Time, organized by Marco Giannotti (USP) and Jociele Lampert (UDESC), which proposes interdisciplinary reflections on the relationship between these elements across different languages and practices.
